Little Amazon tour

The pré-Gauchet wetland area is located in the Malakoff neighbourhood of Nantes.

It used to be a meadow, full of Malva sylvestris (common mallow) and is nicknamed “Little Amazon”. It’s been left practically untouched since the last World War and is surounded by train lines, including a train bridge that’s nearly 10m tall and stetches over the site. It’s an area of ecological interest, full of varied fauna and flora and was the first natural urban area included in the Natura 2000 network (a network of protected natural areas in the European Union), under the name of “the Malakoff Wetland Area”.
