Parks and gardens

Parc du Grand Blottereau

This park covers 22 hectares, making it the largest park in Nantes. It guarantees a complete change of scene!
Dedicated to exotic plants and flowers since it was left to the city by Thomas Dobrée II in 1905, Great Blottereau has continued to expand its exotic collections over the last 40 years. The park provides a constantly changing space for experimentation and offers a journey through different landscapes from around the world, including the Mediterranean, North America and the South Korea. In the future, we hope that you’ll be able to find something from all 5 continents.
The park was headquarters for the business school's colonial agronomy department at the start of the 20th century, and inherited its tropical greenhouses. They house one hundred year old exotic plants and a unique collection of food crops, aromatic plants, medicinal plants and plants used to produce textiles.

The flowers and trees that are planted in all of the city's green spaces are also produced here.

Once a year, in September, the park suddenly springs to life: it hosts the “Folie des plantes”, or “Plant madness” festival. It lives up to its name, as it features more than 160 exhibitors and welcomes over 40,000 visitors each year.
